Package Value: £150m
Client: Nexans

Efficore had identified the need for the Client to be more proactive in their tendering approach based on previous lessons learned, to de-risk the Project significantly should the Client be appointed by the end-customer. This included the review of the Employer requirements and providing deviations to the documents in question, to align with the Client pricing strategy. In addition, Efficore built and ‘stress tested’ the construction programme using well-defined outputs, ensuring the onshore works could reasonably meet the key milestones required from the end customer and ensuring enough float in the programme to guard against any unforeseen events. Efficore also priced the cable installation and civil works elements of the Project, using expert estimating services.

Blyth offshore Demonstrator
Package Value: £28m
Client: BAM Nuttall
Conditions of Contract: NEC Options A & B Subcontracts with Amendments

Efficore provided comprehensive construction and engineering management services for the design and construction of the Gravity Base Turbine Foundation Demonstrator project. Our expertise was pivotal in finalising the design and ensuring the constructability of the gravity base foundations. Working closely with civil and marine designers, Efficore addressed key engineering challenges throughout the project. Additionally, Efficore was responsible for sourcing specialist subcontractors from across Europe, carefully auditing their previous projects and performance records before awarding contracts.
The project involved the construction of five gravity base foundations, each built using slip form technology and continuous concrete pours that operated 24/7 for five days per structure. Major temporary works were employed to install the conical-shaped roofs of the bases that were pre-fabricated onsite, while heavy multi-crane lifts were required to position the 6.5-meter diameter, 60-meter-long steel centre shafts.
Efficore managed the full construction process, ensuring that the project was completed on time and fully signed off by the marine warranty surveyor. The successful delivery of the project earned it the prestigious ICE Major Project of the Year award.

GBL Data centre
Package Value: £35m
Client: Viabuild NV
Conditions of Contract: FIDIC Yellow Book with Amendments (Main Contract
Efficore provided project management services for the CSA (Civil, Structural, and Architectural) package installation works at the GBL Hyperscale Data Centre in Belgium. Efficore worked closely with Viabuild to ensure their construction activities, though taking place in Belgium, complied with UK construction regulations. Leveraging their extensive experience, Efficore joined the live project to assist Viabuild in implementing new management systems, recovery programs, quality standards, and resourcing strategies. These improvements not only enhanced Viabuild's project execution but also strengthened the relationship between Viabuild and their client, ensuring the project was completed to the required quality standards.
The project included substantial civil engineering works, such as water-retaining structures, pile caps, large-scale FM2 flooring slabs, and substation civil works. Additionally, a large-scale infrastructure and utility package was involved, which required the installation of thousands of meters of electrical and fibre optic (FO) ducting, piping, and roads, all while working around high-value live fibre optic cables. The project also required coordination with the neighbouring live data centre to integrate the new facility with the existing infrastructure.
The changes implemented by Efficore significantly contributed to the successful completion of the project, which helped Viabuild secure the contract for the next project within the GBL campus.
